Great talks with Phil

So, I called my good buddy Phil today and he started explaining to me what he does at his job at SunTrust. We have had this talk before and each time we talk about his profession our understanding of his profession and our general understanding of business grows. Throughout the talk I had an aha moment (like what Oprah talks about all the time).

Investment institutions can be taken out of the equation of business. Financial institutions play the middle man for getting money from people who have money to people who have ideas, potential goods, etc. Well, my idea is to take out the financial institutions and have the businesses or very wealthy people offer apprenticeship programs. In this model the person who has the great idea will be matched up with people who can help him grow his ideas and connect with people he can network with.

This model is clearly seen in the show sharktank. The entrepreneurs come on the show with the idea to work with the sharks and be able to use all of the resources that the sharks have. My model would work that way. Instead of a shark sitting in his home throwing money into these investment markets with high risks, the risk will be lowered because the entrepreneurs are getting resources to succeed, not just money.

Big ups to Phil for stimulating my brain. We discussed 100 more topics than this but this is what I decided to post. more posts from conversations with Phil in the future.

That’s all. I hope you enjoyed the post. Thank you for reading. God bless

Having Winners on your team v.s. Good People

This video got my mind thinking http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&v=VTMhOHuZZAw&NR=1

For the people who do not want to watch the video it is Robert Kiyosaki (a successful entrepreneur), his daughter, and three other entrepreneurs discuss winning and how their non-stop goal to win is what keeps them motivated and driving.

Now, they did say some pretty good stuff but the overall theme was winning, winning, winning. I love winning, Put me around winners and people who only want to win.

Now, I’ve heard the winning be around winners speech all the time but it never fully rings a bell in my head. I always immediately think about having good people that are pleasant to be around that have the capacity to learn and gain new skills. The person just being a good person is the main thing that I found I needed in the past.

My favorite example of this was when I used to play basketball during lunch in middle school. Everyone would always choose the bigger, taller, more athletic kids to be on their team. Me, I always had my buddy Irfanali Karim who was easily the smallest person on the court but was one of the most nicest and pleasant guys I met while in middle school. He would be on my team and other guys like him and we would compete with the most grizzliest of opponents. It was pleasant to play with them whether we won or lost and our chemistry would grow every game because we were nice guys that liked playing with each other; we weren’t people that disliked each other that were on the same team just for the purpose of winning.

That’s just my opinion. I’ve never felt happier on the court than when I had those good guys on my team. And… we also won.

Jon Jon signing out. Adios. Thanks for reading. Have a wonderful Wednesday
